Mitch Schecter Trio

Mitch Schecter  has been composing and recording his music throughout his career. Some of his compositions have been featured in documentaries.  His performance experience ranges from concerts, recitals, and recordings, to hotels, restaurants, and clubs.  Mitch can be heard on numerous recordings with some of the finest musicians in the New York area.  With the “Jazz Spring Trio” since 1994, their CD “Season and Sentiment’s”, has been well reviewed. Currently Mitch is leading “The New American Quartet”, performing his original compositions. Their first CD, “Mystic Autumn” is available on line and a second CD is in production.

Ryan Berg was born in Minneapolis, MN into a family with a Rich history of musical performance. He is a bassist and educator based in NY currently performing in the jazz setting as well as playing smooth jazz, r&b, world music, country, folk, improvised music. He has been in a number of broadway musicals including Jersey Boys, Summer, The Music Man and Hadestown.

In his professional career Ryan has collaborated with many world-renowned musicians in many genres. A list of which includes: Rashied Ali, J.D. Allen, Sullivan Fortner, Frank Lacy, Bruce Williams, Mark Whitfield, Eric Lewis, Lakecia Benjamin, John Sebastion, Roy Hargrove, Chitresh Das, Gerald Clayton, Cindy Cashdollar, Camille Thurman-Green, Marvin Sewell, Stacy Dillard, Logan Richardson, Josh Evans, Jason Samuels Smith and many more.  Ryan has performed at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The Blue Note, Blues Alley, The Monterey and Montreal Jazz Festivals as well as many other PAC’s, festivals, and venues around the world. 

Ryan is currently a performing member with The Brianna Thomas Band, Connie Han Trio, Lindsey Webster Band and also leads and composes for groups of his own.  He has released two albums under the band name cPhour.

 

Steve Rubin has been a professional musician for over 50 years.   With a varied background in rock, classic R&B, disco, improv and jazz.   Studied with Mel Lewis of the famed Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra and big band player Sonny Igoe.

In 2005 Steve and his wife moved from NYC to Warwick and in 2010 he founded the Warwick Valley Jazz Festival, which became The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival.  He’s fronted a series at Daryl’s House, participated in The Woodstock Film Festival and was an award recipient on behalf of the festival in 2011 for “Best New Arts Organization”.   An experienced grant writer and founding member of The Hudson Valley Jazz Ensemble, Skye Jazz Trio and the improvisational group, “Beyond Jazz”. Steve is thankful to work with The Cove in helping to bring local jazz talent in.
